How Do You Justify This Man, Trump?

I am amazed by the people who steadfastly defend Trump. The guy is the most unprofessional President who appears to be a few sandwiches short of a picnic, and who acts like a brat on the school playground. He is allowing the swamp to pull his strings - you know, those people he promised to drain. I think his supporters are the most swindled people on Earth.

But I also get it. He appeals as the everyman, slagging people off just like the next dolt, down the bar; and actually coming true on many of his more outlandish promises. Other than making Mexico pay for the wall. Indeed, I have seen Trump supporters walk back on their support for him on account of this. For example:

But his core supporters, as I have pointed out variously before, stand resolute. FiveThirtyEight's Poll of the Week reads as follows, which is good news for Democrats (for now):

Holding onto all of their U.S. Senate seats in red states would all be for naught for Democrats if they don’t net the two pickups they need to take control of the chamber. This week, two polls came out showing that Democrats are comfortably ahead in one must-win state — Arizona, where Republican Sen. Jeff Flake is retiring.

But there’s reason to think that cushion won’t hold up to the rigors of the general election. According to a CBS News/YouGov poll conducted June 19-22, likely Democratic nominee U.S. Rep. Kyrsten Sinema leads all of her potential Republican opponents by at least 7 percentage points among registered voters: She leads Rep. Martha McSally 41 percent to 34 percent, former state Sen. Kelli Ward 43 percent to 35 percent and former Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio 45 percent to 28 percent.1 An NBC News/Marist pollconducted June 17-21 showed similar results: Sinema led McSally 49 percent to 38 percent, Ward 48 percent to 38 percent and Arpaio 57 percent to 32 percent.

If we take these results at face value, Arizona doesn’t even look that competitive; Sinema would be heavily favored. But there’s plenty of reason to believe that the race will tighten before November. One red flag is the high number of respondents who refused to support one of the two major party candidates. Instead, from 11 percent to 27 percent of voters said that they were undecided, intended to vote for a third-party candidate or won’t vote at all.

How much cognitive dissonance can those swing voters withstand? How long will hatred of Hillary maintain? And how many supporters really do like what Trump is doing? After all, he is facilitating the Republicans being able to do what the hell they want. It's just I don't often hear Republican voters say, "Well, Trump really is a douche, but it's a golden opportunity to get through all those things we've ever wanted!" For some reason. it's all or nothing; there is no nuance. At least, not as far as I have seen.

Back to Trump himself. This video below shows just how juvenile he is. If any other leader had been this pathetically childish, the right-wing media would have gone to town. Instead, we get a scenario where, as funny as Trump is to laugh at, his behaviour has become utterly normalised. What does this say for the future of American and international politics?

But those core supporters sure do love him? The reasons behind which, as you can see here, amount to nothing more than blind faith and personality cult:
