I'd Rather Be a Regressive Leftist or an SJW than Someone Using them Pejoratively

My blogging colleague her at Patheos Nonreligious, Dan Arel, said this on Facebook the other day that piqued my interest:

I'd much rather be called a regressive leftist or an SJW, you know, people who actually fight for things to be better, than be mistaken for those who use the terms as derogatory trump cards.

And I found myself really agreeing. Yes, when certain positions get polarised, we can easily find issues with either end, but there is certainly one end I would much prefer over the other. I would much prefer to be accused of being a forthright moralist who tries perhaps too hard to make the world a fairer place than of attacking those who do such and adopting a far more divisive position.

I do find the idea of using SJW as a pejorative term weird - as if fighting for social justice is somehow something to be ashamed of and mocked for.

Again, there are extremes at both ends. I just naturally prefer one end to the other. Now explode the comments section!
