Proof Copy of New Book Looks Tip Top

I am pretty excited that my new book is finally nearing completion. After some teething problems with the ebooks, they are now polished and available, and the paperback is following hot on their tails (all through Onus Books).

Filling the Void: A Selection of Humanist and Atheist Poetry is a fine collection of poems that cover many subjects connected to atheism, humanism and skepticism. Andrew Copson, the Chief Exec of the British Humanist Association, kindly wrote the foreword whilst Dale McGowan, author and Patheos guru, contributed the afterword.

The book is split into 9 sections:

  • Part One - God (and lack thereof)
  • Part Two - Religion, Holy People & Holy Places
  • Part Three - Prayer
  • Part Four - Death and the Meaning of Life
  • Part Five - Science and Critical Thought
  • Part Six - Morality and Humanist Ideals
  • Part Seven - Awe, Wonder and our World
  • Part Eight - The Bible
  • Part Nine - Free Will and Other Philosophical Nuggets (Or, Any Other Business)

The descriptions is as follows:

There is often thought, by theists, to be a void in humanist and atheist lives; a god-shaped hole. For many atheists, though, that void is amply filled with meaning and purpose, nobly and morally built up out of philosophy and living a fulfilled life. This volume helps to document that through a wide variety of verse, form, and content with poems from an interesting array of writers, detailing a range of emotions and thoughts.

There has been a void, a lacking, of collections of atheistic artistry, and this selection hopes to remedy such a situation, and in doing so seeks to show how humanists can and do weave lives that are rich tapestries of morality, purpose, awe and wonder.

Looking forward to getting the real thing out there now!
