Quote of the Day: Herald Newman on Tackling Islamist Ideology

This, on a thread discussing the Manchester bombing, was in one sense thoroughly obvious, but in another sense, some needed clarity:

Let's start by at least acknowledging that the Manchester attack was driven by a violent, Islamist, ideology. Without that, I don't see that we have any hope of finding a way to prevent atrocities like this from happening again.

Second, let's also recognize that blaming all Muslims for these kinds of atrocities does nothing to help the situation either. If anything, we need the help of knowledgeable Muslims, and ex-Muslims, in order to deal with this problem.

Once we can agree with these points, we can start to figure out what can be done. We're going to need the help of everyone to root out, and destroy, this dangerous ideology!

The question still remains, though. What to do after acknowledging this...
