Why Conservative Comedy Isn't Funny

I am preparing this morning for the net interview for MythVision on my Resurrection book (The Resurrection: A Critical Examination of the Easter Story [UK]) - today, we are talking empty tomb. It'll be a live stream taking place at around 09:20 am EST. In the meantime,

The Left and Their Cancel Culture!

Goddamned lefties and their cancel culture, as the Boston Globe reports: As the debate over the teaching of critical race theory in the classroom intensifies across the country, the firing of a Tennessee teacher last month emerged as a flashpoint in the discussion over the weekend. Matthew Hawn, who had

What's Wrong with the Left: The Mechanisms of Voting and Rigging the System

This is part two in my series on the subject. The first started with: I was asked the other day “what is wrong with the left?” or “where has the left gone wrong?” This is presumably in the context of the UK since this is quite a different political environment

What Is Wrong with the Left?: The Mechanisms of Messaging

I was asked the other day “what is wrong with the left?” or “where has the left gone wrong?” This is presumably in the context of the UK since this is quite a different political environment to the US, although there are obvious similarities. Let me answer this question in

The Nonsense in Spades We Are Now Dealing with

Dealing with dyed-in-the-wool Trump supporters was difficult enough when he was in office, but now that he is gone, such cultists have doubled down to a state of psychological mania that beggars belief. I have seen Twitter feeds and forum comments that make me incredibly sad. This isn't

The Inherent Contradiction in the Left-Right Paradigm

The left-right paradigm for explaining political ideologies is not all that useful in being far too simplistic. One thing I would like to point out in issue with the paradigm is this: The right is often described as small government, whereby the libertarian influence sees the free market arbitrating and

Why Cancel Culture is Largely a Myth for Use in the Culture Wars

In response to the really enjoyable conversation I had the other night in recording an episode of Premier Christian Radio's Unbelievable with Justin Brierley and David French, I felt I needed to express my whole case given that an hour for three people to talk in doesn'

"Cancel Culture": Choose Your Narrative

I have been thinking even more on cancel culture and what it means for society. I wrote the extensive piece 'Is "Cancel Culture" Butchering the Centre?' in which I presented some of the topical literature from both sides of the argument. I want to build on

Political Compass

Political Compass

The political compass is always worth doing to see where you fit on a more pluralistic spectrum other than a simple left/right continuum. It works between left and right, authoritarian and libertarian. I think it's genuinely quite accurate with its appraisal. I do get annoyed at answering

Do We Drive the Media or Does the Media Drive Us?

This has always been a pretty important question to me. When you look at media, whether right- or left-wing (though this stands, to me, as a right-wing problem, but this is undoubtedly my bias), the question is, does media reflect our beliefs (and is thus consumer-led) or does it drive

Andy Ngo, Twitter

On Left and Right Politics: Andy Ngo and Marie Colvin

I know that this was the subject of my last piece and I apologise if I’m going to bore you. However, this is something I’ve been brooding upon to the last couple of days. I have seen a number of friends and colleagues posting and writing about this

Right/Left Paradigm Defunct in Totalitarian Regimes

This is effectively a quote of the day from 3lemenope: To the substance, I find the overlay of the Left/Right dichotomy onto regimes that have no significant democratic play in their regime types to be rather pointless, since the purpose of the Left/Right dichotomy in political science is

The Deaths at the Hands of Left-Wing Regimes

This is a perennial conversation that does seem to annoy me. When arguing with people who are further to the right of me, they often invoked deaths caused by Stalin and Pol Pot and other such dictators. They seem to think that those to the extreme left who end up

Left- vs Right-Wing Comedy: Why so Left? Punching up and down

Left- vs Right-Wing Comedy: Why so Left? Punching up and down

This is the second part in this brace of posts, the first part is here, where I set the scene and looked at Christian comedy. There undoubtedly appears to be a prevalence on TV and in the media in general of left-leaning comedy, and a dearth of right-wing, conservative comedy

Left- vs Right-Wing Comedy: Why so Left? Setting the Scene.

Left- vs Right-Wing Comedy: Why so Left? Setting the Scene.

There undoubtedly appears to be a prevalence on TV and in the media in general of left-leaning comedy, and a dearth of right-wing, conservative comedy or even Christian comedy. The question, then, is why this is? The answer, to me, comes in three potential forms, and these may or may

The Circularity of Voter Disenchantment

Young people often claim that they don't vote because they are disillusioned with politics and politicians. They have no buy-in to the whole system. I think part of this can be written off to laziness. Many people simply don't motivate themselves to find out about politics,

Racism and xenophobia in economic downturns

My previous post talked about the rise of the right-wing UKIP in recent polls and elections in the UK. Part of this phenomena, which is predicated upon the blaming of immigrants and immigration for many social woes, is as a result of the recent economic downturn.

Dale Hansen Defends Michael Sams in Jaw Dropping Speech on Gay NFL Players

http://youtu.be/mAeS0bCAmjE What a fantastic commentary here. Excellent. More of that, thanks. One point which I have made before is that conservative vs liberal politics is inherently incoherent: Right-wing = tiny government please, and stay out of our lives, apart from when it concerns sexuality and morality and family,
