Trump's 'cabinet members attend weekly Bible study'

Wow. Trump's White House is already an absolute shower of shit at the moment. Everything is going off all over the shop. I can't keep up. This one caught my eye, though. The Independent states: According to Christian Broadcasting Network, once a week around a dozen

The UK Government Is Very Open about Its Bribery and Hypocrisy

Recently (for my more international readers), the UK electorate was involved in a snap election because the Prime Minister, Theresa May, looked at her massive lead in the polls and saw that she was about to enter into vital negotiations with the EU over Brexit. In order to have the

Does Missouri Bill Let Employers Fire People Who Use Birth Control?

This was reported a week ago, and may not be news to some of you. There seems to be a lot of this sort of governance and bill-passing going on at the moment. As Feministing reported last week: Yesterday, the Missouri House voted to pass SB 5, a bill imposing

Christianity Is Fundamentally Opposed to Freedom of Speech

I thought I'd resurrect this one from a few years back. In reading Richard Carrier's excellent chapter in John Loftus' superb Christianity is not Great in which I have a chapter myself, there is much to glean concerning matters of democracy and the American Constitution

Faith & Politics: Leader of Liberal Democrats Quits in Tension over Christian Life

Tim Farron has been the leader of the Liberal Democrats, the third biggest political party in the UK, for the last two years. He recently ran in the election on the pro-EU Remain ticket. During the run-up to the election, Farron was robustly questioned about his views on gay sex

A Sweet Irony on Election Day

I have voted, for what it's worth in my Furst Past the Post condemned constituency. Here is a sweet irony from my local newspaper, the Portsmouth News. I always like to get my political education from the Richmond Motor Group, as well as theological advice, too.

Trump and Sadiq Khan: Trump Is Being a Tool

It's not very highbrow of me, I know. But, my goodness, Trump, as President of the US, is being an utter tool. Sadiq Khan is the left-wing (Labour) Muslim Mayor of London. Trump has never liked him for those qualities. Trump appears to have it in for people

Lazy and Incoherent Theology: God Will Take Care of It

I posted yesterday about a Republican who said that is climate change actually existed, it would be okay, because God would sort it. So coming out of the Paris Accord, for Trump, was A-Okay. This is what the Huffington Post reported: “I believe there’s climate change,” Walberg said, according

God Will ‘Take Care Of’ Climate Change, If It Exists

Nice. Well done GOP. Good effort, Trump... The Huffington Post states: “I believe there’s climate change,” Walberg said, according to a video of the exchange obtained by HuffPost. “I believe there’s been climate change since the beginning of time. I believe there are cycles. Do I think man

Minnesota Republican Representative Abigail Whelan steered Democrats away from difficult questions regarding tax by invoking Jesus. Manchester Bombing and the Political Context

The Spin of Election Campaigns

All parties must do it, but there is something insidious and underhand in this election concerning the Conservative Party. We have got used to televised election debates. More than that, for a lot of disengaged voters who struggle to even name our Prime Minister, such TV debates are necessary. So

The Circularity of Voter Disenchantment
