A Trump Question for You

Here is a meme that appears to be bona fide in its claims. The question is this. Trump would be invalidated for a number of reasons in applying, for example, for a teaching job. So why, if he can't be a teacher, can he run for the most

Quote of the Day: Illithid on Trump vs Clinton

This came yesterday from Illithid: I don't know what will happen in Syria. I do know that the choice we have for who to make decisions on our behalf is between two people. One is a career politician, imperfect, ambitious, willing to fight dirty to win, perhaps overfond

Trump and Jesus. How Can You Align the Two? You Can't.

I have been arguing on facebook with an evangelical Catholic who has become so right-wing it is amazing. It stems from the most unbelievable cognitive dissonance I have ever experienced. He is gay, and sees that as a sin. As such, he has embraced every aspect of right-wingness in order

Quote of the Day: Michael Candelario on the Post-Fact Electorate

This one comes from facebook. Couldn't agree more: In the US, there are large swaths of voters (some examples seen here in this thread) to whom facts have become biased. Because their deeply held views have been shown to be false, the mere fact of presenting facts for

Brexit

Brexit, Nissan, the Free Market, Protectionism and Government Insanity

A bit of a sidetrack here. Brexit has happened and it looks increasingly likely that the UK will leave the European Single Market. Those on the Remain side have been lauding the issues (falling pound, the banks planning to pull out etc.) whilst the Leavers have been lauding the positives

Calais, Refugees, Migrants, and a Media Storm.

There has been a media sh!tstorm in recent weeks over the refugee/migrant camp in the French port of Calais, and concerning Gary Lineker, the famous BBC football (soccer) pundit. For my American and foreign readers, I will walk you through this and give you my thoughts. Let me

This Is Brilliant: Trump's "Extreme Vetting"

This is my favourite video of the last few weeks. Unbelievable irony and double standards. Genius. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y4Zdx97A63s

It's OK, Trump will "Defeat Islam" with his 5 Point Plan

Not bad that a property mogul can "defeat" an entire religion with billions of followers with an unspecified five-point plan. Interesting slip of the tongue. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g2z0gdGc2A4

My Latest Contact Form Email... Wow.

This is incredible. Another classic. Here is my latest email: FIRST Many of those who know me in person and who know me well, will attest that I am, one of, if not the single most, truthful person they know, or have ever met. SECOND I am an Agnostic Atheist

Michelle Obama's Superb Speech. I'll Miss Her (and I'm a Brit...).

Wow. THIS is how to be dignified and a meaningful politician. THIS is how to react to the sheer idiocy of Trump. Professional yet heartfelt. Exceptionally powerful. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r7e3QKKOp50

Trump Surrogates: Evading Answers and Evidence

This is amazing to watch. There is so much you can take from this short panel segment, I could write for hours on it. I'll let them speak for themselves. https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=303&v=WDKBBA_nwqc

Fact-checking the Vice-Presidential Debate - Kaine MUCH more reliable than Pence

Voting for Trump and Perpetuating the Islamic Victim Narrative and Terrorism

Whether or not any bomb or stabbing events in the States over the last few days were carried out by Islamic fundamentalists, the scenario is an easy one for the fundamentalists, with a bent for terrorism, to win. Creating chaos with bombs and killings stirs up a hornet's

Stunningly Good Speech at Correspondents' Dinner

He's good, he's really good. And he talks about one of my greatest concerns for US politics: lobbying. How you can think to have fair law-making and decision-making regarding a country when politicians are paid so much by entities with vested interests is beyond me.

UK's Austerity Approach Is an Excuse to Copy America's Free Market Capitalism

This video, an interview between Owen Jones and Ha-Joon Chang, is fascinating. I heavily referenced Chang's work in my substantial series On the Skepticism of Free Market Economics - check it out. This interview is well worth  watch.

On Trump

I am feeling ranty. I have come to the conclusion that anyone remotely supporting Trump doesn't warrant interaction. He's the biggest douche in the world and to think that so many Americans are putting their stall in him is a damning indictment of that country and

Sam Harris on Trump - Spot On

This is another must listen. Sam Harris nails it on Trump. This should start at the right moment- but the player is playing up. Go to about 5m19. The section I am talking about is the bit before Harris talks about the recent killings in Orlando and Trump's

Saudi Arabia, the UK, Al-Qaeda, the Yemen. What a Recipe.

This video is a great expose of the proper shitstorm that is the Yemen right now. And we in the UK. as far as our government is concerned, are probably not helping matters.

Jesus and Trickle Down Economics

I am involved in a conversation on facebook at the moment about free market economics. The conversation includes some theists (such as Nick Peters) who espouse trickle down economics. I have written about free market economics and trickle down economics at great lengths before, but it is interesting to do

Asking for... No, Demanding a Progressive Alliance

Yesterday, I wrote about the fallout from Brexit and the idea that, in a state of chaos and disarray, the ideologically possessed will take advantage and fulfill their decades' old plans. Whatever you say about the good and bad of Brexit, it will enable free marketeers and those on
