The Best Analysis of the GOP I Have Heard

The video below is the single best analysis of the GOP, where it is at and where it is going, that I have yet heard. It is from FiveThirtyEight and it is probably so good because it involves a panel of three conservatives giving frank, honest and quality party-reflection. Galen

GOP

GOP: Grift, Dictatorship and a Fundamental Lack of Principle.

Ben Sasse is a conservative Republican. Donald Trump is not. Donald Trump is an ideologically empty vessel, half of which is filled with his own fickle, narcissism-driven intuition, the other half of which is filled with poison dripped in by the morally bankrupt ne'er-do-wells surrounding him. Indeed, many

Christian Comedy, the Church & Politics

This was a pretty interesting listen, with an insight into Christian communities and the growing politicisation of them (or, the greater likelihood of people being outspoken about their political positioning).   Stay in touch! Capitol Double Standards

As my friend said: This meme is making the rounds and misses a key point. Two years after his release, Kalief hanged himself at his parents' house. He was 22. Racism kills. To add to this... Fun fact. The 2018 Sunrise climate change protest had twice as many protesters

The Nonsense in Spades We Are Now Dealing with

Dealing with dyed-in-the-wool Trump supporters was difficult enough when he was in office, but now that he is gone, such cultists have doubled down to a state of psychological mania that beggars belief. I have seen Twitter feeds and forum comments that make me incredibly sad. This isn't

Joe Biden

Such Competence and Moral Integrity

I could be talking about any part of the last 24 hours, other than Trump's own "farewell do", which looked like a wholly embarrassing affair (with desperate appeals for almost anyone to turn up). I am actually referring to the press briefing that I (being a

The Free Market and Big Tech

...the right still lays claim to America’s most-watched cable-news network, highest-rated political talk-radio shows, and most-read Facebook articles. The algorithmic programming of Facebook and Twitter — which directs readers away from dry reporting on local corruption and toward lurid conspiracy theories — has been a boon to the right in this

"Post-Truth Is Pre-Fascism"

Post-truth is pre-fascism, and Trump has been our post-truth president. When we give up on truth, we concede power to those with the wealth and charisma to create spectacle in its place. Without agreement about some basic facts, citizens cannot form the civil society that would allow them to defend

The Single Worst President(ial Address) in Modern Times

What an absolute flood of insanity inspired by years of the most irresponsible POTUS in recent American history. Or, arguably, ever. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CTM7gYSMn7A Lies. Absolute lies. Dangerous, insurrection-rousing lies. And yet the US often has the gall to march around the world lecturing people on

Trump's Phone Call and the Law

Yesterday, I spoke about how Trump believed the nonsense he has been spouting, conspiracy theories and all. Today, I am going to share with you an interesting legal analysis from a YouTube legal expert I often watch. It makes for fascinating viewing. Aside from this, there are two points about

Epistemology: Trump, Fraud and Believing his Swamp

Trump seems to have fully jettisoned himself off the deep end. The latest example of his growing desperation and idiocy is the unhinged phone call he had with the Republican Georgian Secretary of State for which he has now been reported to the FBI for. I have listened to parts

FOX News

FOX News: Frankenstein's Monster Eats Its Maker

Trump has effectively been laughed out of court some 39 times and counting, with recounts turning up 87 extra votes for Biden in Wisconsin at the cost of $3 million. It's all terribly embarrassing. The real lawyers knew there wasn't a case to be had, they

Dominion & Election Fraud Nonsense

Sidney Powell is a Grade A batsh!t crazy conspiracy theorist nutjob. Yes, my evaluation may be unprofessional but I seek to match the professionalism with which she is collecting her "evidence" and presenting her findings. I need not detail the utterly ridiculous assertions she is making about

A Lesson in Probability to a Twit

A long time commenter here (See Noevo Twit), who has contributed precisely nothing to any conversation he has been involved in bar annoyance, is not long for these boards. It finally came to a head and I announced he would be banned after the election given: a) if Trump won,

Truth Decay and the Normalisation of Conspiracy Theories

So much has gone on recently that I don't know where to start and can't hope to include everything. Conspiracy theories are being flung at as many walls as possible to see what sticks and where, and it's all so depressing. We really are

Finally, a President with Empathy to Replace One Completely Devoid of It

Recently, and I hope he won't mind me saying this, but Jim Jones sent me a link of a news piece about children showing beautiful Halloween empathy and kindness with a comment that these children were showing more empathy than a person in charge of the United States,

This Circus, and the Hypocrisy, Was All So Predictable

It's all still happening, sadly. Trump and his acolytes are still maintaining this circus. But it's not like we weren't warned. By Hillary Clinton, for example. We were also warned by Trump's own behaviour: In the 2016 primaries and election and before,

Ouch. Johnson's Remarks Are Damning to Trump.

Wow. This has to hurt. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CWDDmrYx-qw In his first speech excerpt, there were a couple of phrases that were hugely revealing: "It was refreshing to have that conversation." To say this is to accept that such conversations had not taken place with

What Do You Do about This A-Grade Delusion?

This sack of nuts, from Pastor Greg Locke: https://twitter.com/i/status/1326326236902285312   I have no idea what one does about this off-the-scale level of delusion. It beggars belief. Also,  the rise of Newsmax and OAN is disturbing - the quality is shockingly low as the propaganda levels are

Fascinating Cohen Interview

This is well worth a watch. Fascinating predictions. Trump won't admit defeat (he won't turn up to the inauguration) and will start up a right-wing media organisation to fracture the FOXNews - OAN dynamic. Murdoch will come to hate Trump (FOX are already losing viewers over

The Election: Talking Energy, Foreign Policy & Demographics

Democratic Party

The Republicans Smashed It

Pennsylvania has just flipped Blue and some people are even calling it. Biden is looking to be President. The Republicans smashed it. This is why Trump's claims are completely incoherent. There can be no fraud because, ostensibly, the Republican Party absolutely destroyed the Democrats outside of the presidential

US Politics for Beginners

Okay, for my British and non-US readers. If I get anything wrong, let me know. US POLITICS FOR BEGINNERS Here is my US politics for beginners, for those of you British people who might not understand the US election system. The system has a trifecta (3) of elements: President and
